Need to Know on Amazon’s New Simplified Seller Feedback System
August 18, 2025
Now in effect, Amazon quietly rolled out a simplified feedback experience for customers to rate sellers, and the changes could have both positive and negative implications for your business.
What’s Changing
Star-Only Ratings – Customers can now leave a 1-5 star rating without written feedback.
Mandatory Reason for Low Ratings – For ratings below four stars, customers must select a reason. Amazon will omit ratings unrelated to seller performance.
Automatic Abuse Filtering – Amazon will use automated systems to detect and remove abusive ratings.
Potential Upsides
- Higher feedback volume from simpler process
- More positive ratings captured from happy customers
- Automatic removal of irrelevant ratings
- Proactive abuse protection
Challenges & Concerns
Without written comments, sellers lose valuable context for diagnosing issues. This is particularly problematic for FBA sellers. Sellers must focus more on preventative measures: ensuring product quality, keeping detail pages accurate, and leveraging AI to preempt misunderstandings.
How to Adapt
- Audit your detail pages for accuracy
- Enhance product quality control before warehouse
- Monitor and appeal irrelevant ratings
